Campus Close-Up: Students’ and Faculty’s Pets
by Florence Zhang

Madison Taylor (Freshman Psychology Major): “I have a doberman named Megatron that my
3 year old cousin named, and a fish named Robert Henry Alexander Johnson Anderson III. My
cousin, who was three at the time, chose between the names Megatron from Transformers or
Super Gecko Grip from PJ Masks, and our fish’s name is an inside joke with my roommates.”

Isabella Florea (Freshman Early Childhood Education Major): “On campus I have a hamster
named Billy. I brought him with me halfway through the school year, and me and my roommates
like to hand feed him and watch him stuff food in his cheeks. I also have a german shepherd at
home named Aspen that I got for my birthday, who is excited every time I go home because of
her separation anxiety.”

Dr. Joseph Spedaliere (PhD, English): “I have a labradoodle named Lillian Disney. Even
though she’s 55 pounds, she still tries to be a lap dog. My son made a YouTube series about her,
and my daughter sang the theme song for it.”

Candie Tillman (Line Cook): “I own two cats named Anviea and Jemma, and a double doodle
named Riverling that I adopted with my boyfriend last April. The two kittens are super spoiled.”

Laura Inks (GrillNation Cook): “My wiener dog, Isabelle, loves to eat. She sneaks food all the
time, and if you leave food anywhere, even on a shelf you think she won’t reach, she’ll find a
way to get to it. I have two bigger dogs, but she’s definitely the leader of the pack.”

Shawn Clements (Director of Dining Services): “I have quite the zoo with 5 cats, 5 dogs, a
chinchilla, and a hamster. They can range from 5 all the way up to 80 pounds. My smallest dog,
Gabriel, once got his head stuck in a potato chip bag and was running around trying to get it off
himself.”
