Remembering Michael W. Schiff

A beloved Pitt-Greensburg student, Michael W. Schiff, passed away tragically in an automobile accident in Greensburg on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Michael was a dedicated and hardworking freshman who was beginning his architecture degree. He was a resident on campus and a friend to many.

He was a kind, warm, and caring student who will be dearly missed by the entire campus community.

Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alfred Nathan “Al” Schiff, and maternal grandmother, Anna Impallomeni. He is survived by his parents, Edward “Ned” and Joanne Schiff; his brothers, William and John Schiff; his grandmother, Rose Schiff; his uncles and aunts, Brian and Marcia Schiff, Gordon and April Schiff, and Jeff Impallomeni; and many cousins.

The Pitt-Greensburg community will be thinking of and praying for Michael’s family as they grieve.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity, or any other charity, in Michael’s memory.

Anyone who would like to send their condolences to Michael’s family can do so here, in his obituary guestbook. A tree can also be planted in Michael’s memory.

Any students who need support while dealing with this difficult loss are encouraged to reach out to the Counseling Center. Appointments can be made by phone at 724-836-9917, or by email at GbgCounseling@pitt.edu.
