What to Watch Online: Stream Review–“Tiger King”

by Miranda Smith

I have no choice but to mention the elephant in the room. Or in this case, the tiger in the room.

Toward the end of March, Netflix released the limited series known as “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness.” They knew we needed something to entertain us during this quarantine.

If you haven’t already watched the show, I’m sure you have seen the numerous memes made from stills of some scenes.

The main focus of the show is self-proclaimed Tiger King, Joe Exotic. He owns his own zoo, which includes 176 tigers and other dangerous animals.

I cannot begin to even explain how wild (no pun intended) this show actually is

The drama that unfolds throughout the seven episodes is insane. At the beginning of show, it’s just kind of weird. We see some guy who owns close to 200 tigers just because he can. A few episodes in is when it starts to get crazy. We witness death, drug usage, and imprisonment, not necessarily in that order.

Tiger King is about everything, from tiger-loving hicks to polygamy to meth addicts to murder

Other than Joe Exotic, the show introduces us to some more independent zoo owners, including Doc Antle and Carole Baskin. If I’m being honest here, Joe Exotic is the best person out of the three. Trust me, that is saying a lot. You have to watch the show to understand my reasoning.

With this show, I will tell you to watch at your own risk. You will see some things that are unbelievable and will leave you speechless. It’s worth it, though. You’ll finally understand what all of those memes are about.
