The Truth Shall Make More Sense: Debunking Corona Conspiracies with Kyle
by Kyle Harper
The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely changed the way people in society try to process information and make sense of what’s happening around us. While some people focus on the coronavirus’s infection and mortality statistics, others focus on the uplifting stories of communities coming together and the recoveries of patients. However, there are those that take it a step further and look into conspiracy theories for answers to their questions.
While there are some conspiracies that really make us think about the dark inner workings of our government and wealthy elite, some are just a little ridiculous. Let us take a look at some of the craziest conspiracies that have come out of the coronavirus pandemic.
5) False COVID-19 Cures
When a new sickness arises, you better believe there is going to be someone out there who wants to profit off the fears of others. There have been numerous products created with the “guarantee” of eliminating the coronavirus.
Some of the wildest ones include a silver-based toothpaste endorsed by Alex Jones. Silver may be effective against werewolves, but it does not appear to have much of an effect on viruses.
In addition, according to Click Orlando, a Florida official also reported that blowing a hair dryer up your nose and down your throat created enough heat that would kill the coronavirus. While this virus is not heat-resistant, this does not seem like a very effective method of killing germs and you should definitely not try it at home.
4) COVID-19 is a Bio-Weapon

This is one of the more popular conspiracies out there. Many people believe that the coronavirus is a biological weapon that either escaped from a lab in China or was released as means of population control.
Several sources of have been cited for this including the Georgia Guidestones, a mysterious Stonehenge-like monument written in a variety of modern and ancient languages where the first “law” states that the human population should be kept at “500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature”, a 2018 Netflix series called “My Secret Terius” where a coronavirus with a 90 percent mortality rate is used as a plot element, and the Dean Koontz novel “The Eyes of Darkness” which mentions a bio-weapon called the “Wuhan-400.”

While these are coincidental to our present situation, there are inaccuracies within these sources and what we are experiencing now. Mostly, this comes out to be statistics that are different including death and infection rates.
3) COVID-19 Does Not Exist
Another popular conspiracy is that COVID-19 does not exist at all. Many people believe that this is just an excuse for the government to take control of our everyday lives. The words “quarantine”, “lockdown”, and “martial law” especially have an effect on people’s reactions to this scenario.
Now, while the government has done some shady dealings in the past with surveillance and whistleblowers, this disease is not a hoax. This disease affects everyone and the people in the government are not exempt from that. Just this past week, UK prime minister Boris Johnson tested positive for COVD-19, as well as many worldwide government leaders, spouses, and workers.
2) 5G
A technological conspiracy that comes with COVID-19 is the rise of 5G. 5G is supposed to be a revolution in wireless network technology that will change how we live our daily lives and how we influence control over different types of machines. On March 23, President Donald Trump signed the Secure 5G and Beyond Act of 2020 into law, which essentially begins to instate 5G technology into the US. This includes building 5G towers around the country.
A range of conspiracies arise with this such as the towers emitting harmful radiation to the microwaves that towers emit being able to mind-controlling frequencies. Many people that believe in the conspiracy feel that getting the cure to COVID-19 would involve us getting microchipped and, in turn, make us more susceptible to these 5G towers.
1) Mass Arrests of Child Predators
The final and probably one of the craziest conspiracies out there is that the COVID-19 pandemic is actually an excuse to quarantine people so that police can make massive arrests of elite child predators.
Conspiracy websites and profiles on social media believe there is large chain of Hollywood stars that are connected with deceased Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested in July 2019 on convicted counts of sex trafficking and conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking and later committed suicide in his cell. However, even Epstein’s circumstances of death have been wrapped into a conspiracy of their own.
Actors that have apparent connections to Epstein include Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, and Tom Hanks, who recently tested positive for COVID-19.
Conspirators cite strange occurrences such as several major company CEOs stepping down from their positions, as well as a secret code that correlates to the media’s response of testing positive for COVID-19.

In addition, conspirators also cite that around 800,000 children go missing every year and that the purpose is that the Hollywood and wealthy elite are harvesting a rare chemical from them called adrenochrome. According to an instagram post made by conspiracy username @knowledge.is.power.q, adrenochrome “can only be found in the human skull (Pineal Gland) of an infant whose blood has been adrenalized with fear then killed which now makes up a multi-billion dollar black market industry…”
So, should we be scared of what this virus offers? Probably yes, but we should use our fear to help build each other up. Being there for one another in this is necessary. Help your neighbor, support each other, social distance, and try to make the best of this dreadful situation.
Don’t spread fear like some of these conspiracies do. Everyone wants an answer as to what is going to happen tomorrow, or next week, or just the future in general. The government is not trying to harvest your children or control your minds, but the questions have arisen due to poor responses to the virus and just general fear of what’s to come.
There is no harm in being alert and being prepared, but make sure you know what you’re prepared for. Stay safe everyone. You got this.
