New Dance Team Club Entertains Basketball Crowd
by Kaylee Hauck
The dance team is just one of the latest editions to Pitt-Greensburg’s ever-growing list of activities to do on campus. Having only been created at the beginning of the semester, the team consists of 12 members but is an interesting activity open to new people.
For now, the dance team only performs at basketball games, but that could change in the future. Their first performance was at the men’s basketball game against Hilbert College on Jan. 16, where the boys fell 101-87.
“We plan on performing at girls’ basketball games too,” said Tyler Humphries Randolph, a freshman member of the dance team.
The team mostly does hip-hop dances, a type of dance made popular in the 1970’s which involves many different styles blended together. That isn’t the only style of dance they do, though. The team is also in the process of learning Nigerian dances as well. In the future, they hope to learn more African dances as well as more hip-hop dances.
The team practices twice a week in the school gym. If interested in joining the team, contact the Director of Activities, Al Thiel, at AJT58@pitt.edu, or Jane Ouko, one of the members of the team, at JAO43@pitt.edu.
