Pitt-Plus Discounts: Where to Save Money

From Amazon Student to discounted auto insurance, it seems like student discounts can be found around every corner. What Bobcat nation might not know is Pitt-Greensburg’s Pitt-Plus program, sponsored by the student government association, gives UPG students their own special set of discounts in the Greensburg and Latrobe regions. “The program has been around for four or five years,” said student activities director Al Thiel. “This is my third year here and it was around before I came along.” This year, the program has partnered with 53 businesses in the area to help students save money on everything from meals to clothing to Sam’s Club and YMCA memberships.

“We were able to gain a lot of new partners this year. Our numbers are up from 39 partners last year and 17 partners the year before,” said Thiel.

While not a Pitt-Plus discount, Thiel also said Carmike Cinema behind Westmoreland Mall, and all participating Carmike theaters, offer $7 student movie tickets with a student ID.
