Are you stressed about taking the final for a particular class? Worry that you won’t pass the class if you don’t succeed on the final? Well, if you are one of those students, there is an option to get help in the Pitt-Greensburg Learning Resource Center, located on the second floor of the Millstein Library.
The Learning Resource Center provides tutoring help for students struggling in the areas of chemistry, composition, English, mathematics, physics, and political science. Peer tutors are available to provide students with help, along with three professional tutors: Michael Garing, who tutors students in mathematics and physics, Daniel Hitt, who tutors students in composition and English, and Jacob Wigfield, who tutors students in chemistry and mathematics.
The Learning Resources Center has been successful in helping students all throughout the year with their classes, according to Garing.
“We’ve helped students understand homework better,” Garing says.
Dr. Lou Ann Sears, director of the Learning Resources Center and assistant professor of English, at Pitt-Greensburg, believes that the Learning Resources Center can be very beneficial for students, throughout finals week.
“There are lots of professional and peer tutors, although the last day of peer tutoring is Friday, April 19,” Sears says.
Students can find the hours for the Learning Resource Center on the Learning Resource Center website: https://www.greensburg.pitt.edu/student-resources/learning-resources.
As for the fall semester, tutoring will look much different, according to Dr. Sears.
“Tutoring in the fall will change, as students will have to schedule tutoring appointments via Pathways,” Sears says.
