A How-To for St. Patty’s
by Courtney Gaffey
If you’re looking for a less obnoxious way to say, “kiss me, I’m Irish,” even though you’re probably not, look no further than this extra AF green and gold eye look. Using only one eyeshadow palette, it’s both simple and quick to do. Whether you’re looking to go out on St. Patty’s or stay at home with your cat and take bomb selfies, this look is for you. I broke down the steps for you; don’t worry, you can thank me later. Products used are in parenthesis.
Step 1: Girl, fill in them brows – if you don’t have brows fake it. Personally, I use a pomade, but use what you’re most comfortable with. Then, if you’re feeling dedicated, carve them out using a high coverage concealer, blending out the edges. (Anastasia Dipbrow in Ebony ($18) and Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair ($27))
Step 2: Cover your entire lid in the same concealer, blend it out with a dense concealer brush or a beauty sponge. (Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair ($27))
Step 3: Using the bright yellow shade from the palette, lightly begin blending into your crease and towards your brow. Keep blending. Then, add the medium green shade directly in your crease. Blend again until the two colors blend seamlessly. Now, take the darkest green from the palette and apply it on your lid. Blend upwards towards your crease until the gradient is a freakin’ masterpiece. Then, keep blending. Blend until you acquire carpel tunnel and you can’t anymore. Do the same on the bottom of your eyes, instead fading the colors downward. (BHCosmetics Take Me Back to Brazil Palette ($17))
Step 4: Line your eyes, sis. Size is up to you, make her thick or thin, but most importantly, make her sharp. Sharp-enough-to-be-a-weapon sharp. Be sure to tight line, too
(Physician’s Formula Eye Booster in Ultra Black ($8.74) and Loreal Silkissime Eyeliner in Black ($6.99))
Step 5: Apply your favorite mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Then, add falsies big enough that you can flutter away from any creepy dudes who might approach you in the bar during your Irish celebrations. (Loreal Voluminous in Carbon Black ($7.25), Duo Lash Glue ($6.49), and Kiss 614 Lashes ($2.98))
Step 6: Use a golden shimmer shadow or face highlight to add some brightness under your brow and in your inner corner. Like Ariana Grande said, “my skin, is gleamin’.” (Anastasia Beverly Hills x Amrezy Highlighter (no longer for sale – sad).
Step 7: You could stop there, but why not be extra? Using lash glue and a large golden glitter, create a golden four-leaf clover. Then, use a golden glitter for the stem. (Duo Lash Glue ($6.49), random large glitter I stole from my mom, and NYX Face and Body Glitter in Gold ($2.99).
