Locally Listed: Top Five Halloween Attractions

Now that October is here, we’re all getting in touch with our inner ghosts and goblins. If Thanksgiving is the start of the holiday season, then Halloween is the pre-game, and it’s important to start the last few months of 2018 with Halloween spirit, even if you’re not a fan of the scary things in life — blood, evil magic, ghost hauntings, and paying taxes.
Halloween can be scary or spooky, and there are plenty of Halloween attractions for you to visit in the Greensburg area if you want get into the pumpkin-and-ghost spirit.
- Schramm Farms Fall Festival ~ Jeannette, PA
Weekdays and weekends from Oct. 1 to Oct. 30, Schramm’s Farm will hold a beautiful celebration of autumn, complete with a pumpkin patch, hay rides, a giant corn maze, made-on-the-site apple cider, a wine store, candy and candy apples, “play hay,” and more!
- Phantom Fright Nights at Kennywood Park ~ Pittsburgh, PA
The Phantom’s Revenge comes to life and takes over the theme park on special days in October. Enjoy all the fun that Kennywood Park has to offer plus a series of costumed park employees chasing after you with the best Halloween spirit.
- The ScareHouse ~ Pittsburgh, PA
According to ABC News and Buzzfeed, ScareHouse is not only Pittsburgh’s scariest Haunted House but also one of the scariest in the entire country. This attraction is full of costumed actors, special effects, and startling set designs. This year, ScareHouse is performing two new attractions: “Pittsburgh Zombies: Reanimated” and “Infernal Darkness.”
- Lonesome Valley Farm’s “Slotter Farm” ~ Greensburg, PA
Experience the story of a livestock farm gone wrong as this haunted farm comes to life. The attraction features a haunted hayride and trail walk around the Valley of Terror, packed with flesh-eating animals and zombie farmers, all leading up to the Slotter Farmhouse. If scary isn’t your thing, you can also get lost in the farm’s non-haunted corn maze and pumpkin patch.
- Escape Room Pittsburgh ~ Pittsburgh, PA
Take a small group and get trapped in a room together with your own intelligence and observations as your key to escaping. Every room has its own storyline and set of tricks, and you have 60 minutes to gain your freedom. Some may find this event scary, while others do not.
