[Outsider] Pitt-Greensburg’s sports center: NEW Pool for fall ‘26
by Angeline Pommier
In 2025, Pitt-Greensburg President Dr Gregorian and the school administrators granted approval for the construction of a pool on the Pitt-Greensburg campus. This new development includes the addition of a jacuzzi and a slide that will be built alongside it.
The pool will be located next to the Millstein library. The pool’s hours of operation are from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the week and from 5 a.m. to midnight on the weekends.
The slide will be accessible from inside the Millstein library, located on the second floor near the children’s literature section, and will be 32ft in length and 9ft in width.
It will be the world’s second-highest water slide standing at 259ft just below the Meryal Tower slide in Doha, Qatar, standing at 260ft.
There will be lifeguards on duty at all open hours. To ensure this, the administration has added a new honors course for students to become lifeguards at a discounted rate.
All certified lifeguards will be required to wear Bruiser’s mascot costume with lifeguard swim trunks as their official uniform, since bobcats are known to be decent swimmers. All guards will additionally have whistles and fans built into the head of their mascot uniform.
This will allow students to go to the pool before and after classes without feeling rushed during the day.
According to Dr. Gregorian, the addition of a pool on the Greensburg campus will enable students to incorporate exercise into their daily lives and find relief from stress.
“Spending an hour or two in the pool or jacuzzi is a great way to feel better,” Gregorian says.
The pool’s construction is scheduled to begin at the end of spring term 2026 following finals week ending on May 1. It’s estimated that the construction will last all summer and finish at the end of August.
The pool will remain indoors and accessible all year long. The design has yet to be revealed, but it is said to be very large and contain many secrets.
Pitt students, faculty, and staff will be able to use the pool and other facilities without any fees. The facility will feature a locker room, bathrooms, and showers.
However, some faculty members have mixed feelings about this new addition to campus. The library staff is apprehensive about the noise it could cause.
For your fall 2026 back-to-school shopping, make sure you include a bathing suit, goggles, and even tubes!
