New Coffee Shop Opens Near Campus: Caleese Coffee
by Shannon Grace
Are you a coffee addict looking for a new fix?
On Thursday, Oct. 30 a new cafe, Caleese Coffee, opened for business at the Westpoint Plaza, less than five minutes from campus. The cafe offers a sit-in/study area for students as well as a drive-thru if you’re on the go.
Jennifer Bihon, co-owner and former Seattle resident, gave some of her coffee background.
“We have a mini espresso system always set up in our home. All the neighborhood kids or anybody would come over to pump their syrup and make their espresso,” Bihon said. “We saw how much everybody enjoyed that, and so we always knew that when our kids launched, we wanted to leave our career jobs and open a coffee shop.”
Bihon states that the goal of Caleese Coffee is not only to serve drinks, but to provide a comfortable “sip-in” space for locals.
“We were trying to set a neighborhood place where you can come in and it’s casual to sit down. But we also have enough space so that if you’re really focused on work as a student or even as someone working from home, you have the privacy to do so, yet you’re kind of in an environment that makes you feel not so secluded as being at home.”
Aiden Murtha, social media manager, also emphasized the community aspect of Caleese Coffee.
“We are community-focused. People are welcome to suggest any drink ideas they have. We love feedback, and we just really want to be a space where people can study and socialize,” Murtha said.
Caleese Coffee will offer a 10% discount to students with an ID, and plans to implement mobile ordering in 2026.
Caleese Coffee is located at 106 Westpoint Drive, Suite 1, Greensburg, Pennsylvania 15601. To view the menu, check out their website, or social medias @caleesecoffee on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok.
