Pitt-Greensburg Marks Another Successful Blue & Gold Celebration
by Max Scher
Pitt-Greensburg celebrated its annual Blue & Gold Celebration on Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, with a lineup of activities to bring together students, alumni, and families for a weekend of campus pride and community spirit.
The festivities kicked off Friday night with a dinner performance by alum (2006) and country musician David Stout, alongside an art reception to honor this year’s Pitt-Greensburg art show winners.
“The art show really surprised me,” said Grace Consacro, who was visiting for parents’ weekend. “There was far more variety than I expected, and the students’ passion was evident in their work and its professional quality.”
Later that evening, the Revenant Entity Paranormal Society guided guests through the historic Rossetti House, sharing stories and findings from previous investigative work and general research into the history of the house.
Sunny weather carried into Saturday, setting the tone for a packed Bruiser Brunch at Wagner Dining Hall, followed by the Blue & Gold Festival outside Millstein Library. Students and families mingled among live music, games, and food stands – with the school’s mascot, Bruiser the Bobcat, making appearances for photos and even taking a turn on a mechanical bull ride.
Freshman Zainaib Alsalami, a computer science and business major, said, “It was just really fun . . . you could tell everyone appreciated the opportunity to relax and hang out before the semester got really busy.”
The women’s softball team also hosted home games as part of the celebration, which rounded out the weekend and denoted Pitt-Greensburg’s continued investment in athletics, arts, and campus-wide unity.
The Blue & Gold Celebration concluded on Saturday night in the campus gymnasium, transformed into the Homecoming and Casino Night venue. Students arrived on a red carpet to participate in “Bruiser’s Met Gala,” all planned by the Student Activities Board, which also had the honor of ultimately crowning Isaac Stephens, senior and SGA senator, and Trinity Wills, senior biology major, as this year’s homecoming royalty. The homecoming court also included Ava Bell, Kate Cramer, Brooke Gabris, Oliver Hall, Bryn Riley, and Marris Sobotka.
The Blue & Gold Celebration once again highlighted the balance between campus tradition and innovation – offering new opportunities among traditions like Homecoming night for both students and alumni to reconnect and engage with the campus community.
“It’s events like this that really bring people together,” said junior Zakery Wiles, senate vice president of the Student Government Association and political science and public policy major. “Since Pitt-Greensburg is such a broad mix of commuters and residents, it’s important to promote things that allow everyone to feel like they can be a part of the community.”
As Pitt-Greensburg continues to grow, so too does the Blue and Gold Celebration, which remains central to strengthening student involvement and fostering school spirit.
