A new development has emerged in the planning for Pitt-Greensburg’s spring graduation convocation. Instead of the traditional blue caps and gowns, all seniors will now wear fuchsia-pink regalia.

Seniors who have already purchased their regalia are not required to return it to the campus store. On May 3, before the ceremony begins in Chambers Hall at 10 a.m., their regalia will magically transform from blue to pink. All regalia still available at the store will also be changed to pink.

Famous wizard Crandalf the Fabulous will perform these magical transformations as an honored guest of the university.

Crandalf, renowned for his expertise in color-related spells and clothing transformations, typically charges for his services. However, he insists on performing his magic for the graduates free of charge.

“It’s such a special day in the lives of all these young people, and I would feel bad if the university had to formally employ me for such a grand occasion. Just meeting all of them would be enough payment as it is,” Crandalf said.

Pitt-Greensburg student Ryan Cameron, who has met Crandalf before, praised the wizard’s skill and unique talents.

“I saw him perform at a pride parade last year. He looked fantastic with his hot pink robes. His wand was really cool, too, with the way it glowed with all the colors of the rainbow. He used it to do all kinds of things like shoot fireworks in the sky and make puppies and kittens appear out of nowhere. It was wild,” he said.

Crandalf, who has made many public appearances during his 255-year career, is often seen wearing the pink robes described by Cameron. He explained that pink, in all its shades, is his favorite color.

“I guess that’s why I was so excited to have been invited by the university to do this in the first place. When they told me I could pick the color of the students’ caps and gowns, I knew there was no way I couldn’t choose pink. It’s my signature color, and it’s just fabulous,” he said.
