Farewell to Lynn Ann Kuhn, English Writing Professor

Lynn Ann Kuhn, born Aug. 22, 1958, of Acme, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2025, at the age of 65. Lynn is survived by her siblings, Edward M. Kuhn, Jr. (Jeff) of Greensburg, Lori Lee Kuhn of Mount Pleasant, and David W. Kuhn of McMurray (Barbara), her nieces, Synclaire Evelyn Kuhn and Karsyn Marie Kuhn of McMurray, her best friend, Laura Jennings of Jeanette, and her much-loved dog and cat, Tina and Libby.

Lynn taught for over ten years as an English, English Writing, and Journalism instructor at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Johnstown campuses, Seton Hill University, and Westmoreland County Community College, in addition to serving as advisor to The Insider in 2024. She also worked for over two decades as an award-winning reporter and editor for the Tribune Review, the Uniontown Herald Standard and the Daily Courier newspapers.

Lynn graduated from Mount Pleasant Area High School in 1977 with highest honors, where she played for the Lady Vikings basketball team as an All-State point guard. She went on to play collegiate basketball at Washington and Jefferson College for the Lady Presidents where she graduated with a degree in English and History. She later achieved a Master’s degree from Seton Hill University in Writing.

Lynn will be dearly missed by her students at Pitt Greensburg, who recall her thoughtful, kind nature, patience, unwavering wit and intellect. Her legacy lives on in the Writing students and professors who knew and loved her and will continue writing in her spirit.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 1 at Slater-Rega Funeral Cremation Services Inc., 730 W. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant. Her family asks, in lieu of flowers, that any donations be sent to support the Mountain Watershed Association Project in Lynn’s honor.
