Pitt-Greensburg men’s basketball won a thriller against Penn State Behrend, 77–73, on Saturday, Jan. 25. The victory put the Bobcats in third place in the AMCC with an 11–7 record, having won eight of their last 10 games.

After the win, Bobcat head coach Chris Klimchock was pleased with his team’s performance, especially on the defensive side.

“We held their top two scorers who, combined, were averaging about 36 points a game,” Klimchock said. “When you can take away a team’s top two players and make them beat you in other ways, you’re always gonna have a shot.”

On offense, Klimchock praised junior guard Matt Marinchak, who came through for the team throughout the game, including hitting the game-winning shot and two free throws to seal the win. He also gave a special shoutout to sophomore forward Trent Rozich, who had a triple-double in the victory, earning AMCC Player of the Week honors.

Penn State Altoona is next on the Bobcats’ schedule. Altoona, currently in second place, sits just ahead of Pitt-Greensburg in the AMCC standings. Like the Bobcats, Altoona is coming off a win, having defeated Hilbert, 91–86, on Jan. 25.

With both teams at 11–7, a win on Wednesday will have a major impact on the playoff seedings for both teams.
