TIME Magazine’s person of the year of 2023, American singer-songwriter, and pop-culture phenomenon Taylor Swift will be hitting Ferguson Theater this April 1. The Eras Tour, Swift’s most recent and most successful concert adventure, has consisted of 152 shows across five continents.
The performance consists of a three hour music marathon in which Swift travels back in time through each of her ten albums. It is nearly impossible to find tickets, and even on the rare occasion, they can range thousands of dollars. This has concerned Pitt-Greensburg students, and several anonymous students have stepped forward with other gripes about the performance.
“Ferguson Theater has about 128 seats. 128,” the anonymous student said. “How on earth are you going to be able to fit everyone who wants to attend the concert into 128 seats?”
Many have suggested a possible overflow room in Smith Hall Lounge, a second overflow room in the gym, a third overflow room in 100 Powers Hall, and a fourth overflow room in the chapel.
Another anonymous source that has connections with Swift offered a few more details on the event. This source has asked to only be referred to as “NFL player, #LetsGoChiefs.”
“I didn’t know Pitt-Greensburg existed,” said NFL player, #LetsGoChiefs. “But I think Taylor’s really excited to perform. Especially for the younger generation of college students.”
Because it is still a Taylor Swift concert, there have been some scalpers buying and reselling tickets at astronomical prices, causing problems all over campus.
“People have been fighting like crazy. Professors have been canceling their classes because they’re so scared of the chaos. I made a joke about having tickets in my biology class the other day, and I got quite literally jumped on by another student leaving Powers last night,” another anonymous student said.
However, Ticketmaster is allowing Pitt Plus at checkout, offering a 2% off discount for Pitt-Greensburg students to purchase tickets. Tickets are completely sold out, but the anticipation on campus is mounting. A third anonymous student has been anticipating this event since January, when the tour date was announced. They have since been sitting in Ferguson Theater for the past four months to save their seat.
“People are getting really into it,” the anonymous student said. “I haven’t really eaten or slept too much. I just want to make sure I have my seat. Sometimes, the musical and theater classes and rehearsals get annoyed that I’m always sitting in the front row, but like Taylor always says: the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.”
Swift has not offered a statement, even though I’ve emailed her every day for the past four months. For more information, don’t visit the official Pitt-Greensburg website, as …whoops, you missed it.
