Get ready to hop into spring with Pitt-Greensburg’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Sponsored by Circle K, this event will occur on Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m. in the Chambers Hall lawn. Children under 12 are invited to come and play, scavenge for eggs and candy, and have fun with their families. Registration is encouraged but not required, and the event will happen rain or shine.
Brian Root, club adviser to Circle K, is excited to assist with the Easter Egg Hunt for its 8th year. “The Easter Egg Hunt is a really exciting event. Our students put a lot of time and energy into filling 5,000 eggs with candy and prizes and spend two hours putting them out in the lawn. Watching 200 kids run around and collect all the eggs is insane. It’s just a fun holiday event that the students have really rallied around over the years.”
Root details other activities that the kids will be able to enjoy. “One of our former faculty members is involved with a bunny fostering event called Rabbit Wranglers, so we will have a few bunnies here for kids to play with and pet. Bruiser the Bobcat and the Easter Bunny will also be here. Lots of photo opportunities for kids and their families. There’s so many smiles throughout the day, it’s just an event that’s really easy to love.”
Other activities include face painting and temporary tattoos. Prizes and snacks will also be given out.
Along with Circle K, several groups across campus are volunteering to help with the event, including the Pitt-Greensburg cheerleaders, the men’s basketball team, and the local Kiwanis club.
Gia Mastermonico, a cheerleader and senior Psychology student at Pitt-Greensburg described what kind of activities their team has prepared for the event.
“We’re doing a duck pond for little kids, and we’re also doing an Easter Bunny ring toss. One of the cheerleaders will be wearing bunny ears and little kids can toss inflatable rings on them,” Mastermonico said.
