While the game was getting tense, it was getting even more heated on the sideline, with Travis Kelce yelling and pushing his head coach, Andy Reid. The incident has had fans both attacking and defending Kelce. But whether you love or hate him, it should be clear to everyone that Kelce’s behavior is both inappropriate and unprofessional. Kelce’s blowup stemmed from Reid momentarily taking him out of the game.

What seems to be the craziest part of this event was Coach Reid’s defense of Kelce’s actions, “They’re passionate players, man, and I love that. Even if they chest bump me to the other side of the 50, I appreciate it.”

It would seem that Coach Reid is making excuses for Kelce’s inappropriate reaction and encouraging it. But his public comments may not be what is happening behind the scenes. Reid may be choosing to downplay his reaction in public so as not to draw more negative attention to the incident or cause unnecessary tension on the team. Reid is an experienced coach, and he could likely be handling the incident internally, one-on-one with Kelce, rather than bringing negative publicity to the team.

Kelce’s sideline blowup has some wondering where his sense of entitlement comes from. It most likely stems from college. At college sporting events, they treat 18-year-olds like celebrities, which must mess with their heads. But there is no excuse for Kelce’s wild behavior, especially when considering that it is very uncommon for other athletes to act this way.
