Question: Have you made any resolutions for 2024? If so, what is one example you’d like to share? Why is this resolution meaningful for you?

Malek King, Management Marketing, Junior

“Yes. I made resolutions to improve my mental health, and also to work on habits like procrastination. That’s one I really need to work on. Oh, and I want to take two trips this year. It doesn’t matter where to, I just need a vacation.

I never knew how much mental health impacted myself and others, and I’ve learned how much other people need to know about it. I feel like this campus talks about it, but doesn’t really talk about it, if you know what I mean. I am working on a few mental health projects on campus — like working on a mural with Dr. Holler.”

John Gennaro, Data Analytics, Senior

“I didn’t make any strict resolutions, but this year I wanted to commit to school more. I’ve gotten better about it year after year.

I want to be successful for my family and my friends. That’s the biggest thing for me — having a distinct set of goals. I’ve always thought of myself as a goal oriented person, and my family and friends are a big part of that.”

Orlando Ganno, History, Senior

“Yes. The first is meditative practice for 20 minutes a day, in one sitting. The second is running. Last year, my cardio was walking on an incline.

I’ve learned that my joy and happiness, and the energy I offer to the world, is dependent on my mental and physical health. Meditating and running are two fundamental aspects of those.”

Abigail Coyne, Psychology, Sophomore

“I haven’t made any resolutions this year, but back in 2021 I made a resolution to be more positive. I feel like I’ve succeeded with that, 100%.

After so much negativity with the pandemic, I just thought it would be something easy to achieve. I try to look for the good in everything and not use as much negative language… I feel it has helped me to this day.”

Renee Patricio, Data Analytics, Senior

“I just said to myself to be more on top of my tasks. I also wanted to separate work and fun. You’ve got to have time for yourself — you come first.

I think a lot of people struggle to find balance between career and hobbies, and I am also an example of that. I also struggle with taking on too much, or saying yes to everything. It can be both a positive and a negative thing, but it’s usually more positive. It helps to have more connections.”
