It’s that time of the year. As soon as it hits Nov. 1, the Halloween decorations disappear from the shelves as the Christmas decorations take their place. I can’t help but get excited whenever this time rolls around. It means that I get to stuff my face with Christmas cookies and drink eggnog. I break out my Christmas socks and pajamas to really get into the spirit. As December has arrived, it also means that the end of the semester is coming and it’ll be time for winter break.
Being on break feels like a reward. It’s something that I need after putting in my full effort for the semester. Plus, I get excited to spend time with friends from my hometown and I get to spend time with family. One of my mom and I’s favorite activities is driving around and getting to see people’s Christmas lights. We already visited Overly’s Country Christmas this year to see what they had in store. Something about going there makes me feel like a little kid again, it makes me feel nostalgic.
Another thing that I love about Christmas is hearing what other people like to do to celebrate the holidays. I enjoy hearing about my friend’s traditions and what they like to do with their families. Sometimes, I like to adopt what they do because of how interesting it sounds. Some of my favorite traditions with my mom are putting our Christmas tree up and putting on a movie. Even though she loves Hallmark movies, my personal favorite is “A Christmas Carol”.
As the holidays keep inching towards us, I feel that everyone should take this time to relax and rejuvenate before next semester. I think that we all deserve it after all the hard work we put in. Take some time to rest or do any activity that fills you with joy.
Happy Holidays, Pitt-Greensburg! Tune in next semester for more content from “The Insider”!
