“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” is an action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released on Oct. 20, 2023, and is currently available to play on PlayStation 5.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” is the third game in the Marvel’s Spider-Man video game series. In the campaign you switch between playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who are now working together as the Spider-Men to protect New York. You are pitted against popular members of Spider-Man’s rogues gallery such as Kraven the Hunter, Lizard, and an original take on Venom.

In the game you can play as either Spider-Man, whether Peter or Miles, in their respective missions or by switching between them at any given time to simply explore or just swing around and have fun. Through the power of the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of PlayStation 5 controllers, you can truly feel like Spider-Man through this deeply immersive experience. The game instructs you on the basic moves and abilities throughout the first segment, but most of the skills are easily remembered if you had played the last two games.

The more I play this game the more comfortable I get with the fighting styles and techniques and am more easily able to build my mental arsenal of what I’m able to do in different scenarios. Fighting enemies is easily my favorite part of this game as the fluidity of motion is so seamless that the more knowledgeable you become with the movesets the more amazingly fun the fights become. I find myself playing as Peter more often than Miles, because I never personally played “Marvel’s Spider-Man,” but I did play “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” so Peter’s character is a new experience for me.

The swinging and gliding mechanics are top tier compared to some other video game variations of Spider-Man’s abilities and so performing these abilities across the entirety of New York is more fun than it is time-consuming. The storyline is spectacular as it continues the connecting stories of the last two games and builds on them with sensational character growth such as bringing back old enemies with reformed lives or reintroducing old characters that may have otherwise been forgotten about and meshing them all together in a way that doesn’t seem forced, but rather natural.

There are multiple little side activities littered around New York that allow you to do quests such as generating electricity by riding a bike or solving puzzles involving chemical connections between plant elements – things I never expected to be doing in a video game as Spider-Man.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” was a great game that I was very happy to be able to easily finish to one hundred percent completion back in the day and I’m delighted that “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” has done nothing if not boost the enjoyment of that game up another level. The ability to be able to customize Spider-Man’s suits has always been one of my favorite parts of these games, especially considering the plethora of options, specifically Peter’s movie suits from each and every movie regardless of actor portrayal. According to what I have read online, it takes about 16 hours to beat the campaign and 27 hours to obtain 100% completion, which is not a lot compared to many other games and with everything I get to experience in this game, will not require any strenuous effort from me at all.

I give this game a rating of 9.2/10.
