Since the academic year started, the girls volleyball team has provided entertainment, excitement, and matches to bring together the student body at Pitt-Greensburg.
Although the team may have a 3-15 record, there is certainly a sense of joy and common bonding among the girls as they build relationships with each other.
“This team means a lot to me,” Freshman Madison Friess said.” I moved in early and they were the only people I knew. They helped me get to know everyone.”
Madison’s statement about how this team helped her make so many friends was echoed by Head Coach Kevin Conroy.
“The (best part of the team is) relationship building, the relationships will last forever,” Coach Conroy said.
The leadership of Coach Conroy has also influenced many girls to come play volleyball here at Pitt-Greensburg. Among them is Sophomore and Team Captain Chloe Lukondi.
“I played volleyball throughout high school and I really enjoyed the sport. Coach Kevin has a really good program going and I really wanted to be a part of it,” Lukondi said.
The girls are not only all-stars on the court, they are also all-stars off of it as well, Coach Conroy says.
“They do a great job with balancing their academics and athletics. Structure helps keep them on track,” Coach Conroy said.
Come out and support the Pitt-Greensburg Women’s Volleyball team in their next home match on Wednesday, Oct. 11 against Mount Aloysius College. First serve is 7 p.m.
