With the current events happening in the past week, the Spanish Club of Pitt Greensburg is aware of the stress and fears this current string of events has brought to the people of the Latino/a community as well as the other communities on campus. We are here to reassure our commitment to Latino/a people in terms of creating a safe campus environment to be oneself and speak their feelings without being judged. In recent discussions, the Spanish Club is working on ways to keep people informed on what to do in these current situations and provide information.

We recognize that these times are hard and frightening for many, especially with how these events occur. Our mission is to promote peace through understanding among all peoples of the Earth, increase cultural awareness of the Pitt Greensburg family, seek creativity in diversity, and expand upon the efforts towards this goal already being accomplished by the members of the campus community.

To every member of our club/community, you are not alone. The Spanish Club stands beside you and will keep working to ensure that campus is a place where you can thrive. We encourage you to come to our general meetings with ideas for meetings and to talk about anything and how this situation makes you feel. We invite all students, faculty, and staff to join us in building a culture of compassion and unity.

Let’s continue forward as one.
