Springtime is on the way, and we all know what that means — the Pitt-Greensburg softball team is about to begin what hopes to be a successful season.

The softball team is entering this season with hope, and an influx of freshmen to the team, much to the excitement of Chuck Myers, head softball coach at Pitt-Greensburg.

“The goals are to always qualify for postseason play, and develop the young talent. We plan on starting anywhere between four to five freshmen and are expecting big things from them,” says Myers.

With the arrival of many new freshmen, upperclassmen are looking to step up and have a positive influence on them, in order to advance the team.

Senior Megan Toth hopes to be one of those upperclassmen.

“My goals for the season are to be the best role model for all freshmen, because there are many of them,” says Toth.

The team will begin their season by heading to Florida to participate in “The Spring Games.” During this trip, the team will play 10 games in six days. The first game is against Skidmore College in Leesburg, Florida on Sunday, March 10. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 p.m.
