University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg logoA Message from the Office of the President
Dear Pitt Greensburg community—

I wanted to take a moment to reach out with some updates and information after yesterday’s incident. I have reached out to the student’s family, and shared that we are keeping them and the student in our thoughts during this difficult time. Out of respect for the student’s privacy and the privacy of their family, we are not releasing identifying information or information about their condition at this time.

In the past 24 hours, in addition to your concern for the student, we’ve heard your questions about campus safety, which we know is vital to our Pitt-Greensburg campus community. While these kinds of questions and concerns are always on our mind, moments like last night draw into focus the need to share with you all some of the resources available, and ideas we’re exploring. Our campus police officers are here 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and closely coordinate with the University of Pittsburgh Police Departments across campuses, as well as local and state police. We have initiated preliminary conversations with those public safety partners to look more closely at pedestrian safety around our campus.

Please remember that Counseling and Residence Life staff are available to any student, whether a resident student or a commuter student. You can contact our Counseling Center at 724-836-9870. Community Assistants (CAs) are available in the residence halls. Other resources are available here.

Pitt-Greensburg faculty and staff, I encourage you to reach out to Life Solutions, which offers Pitt employees free, confidential support services.

Sincerely,
Dr. Bob Gregerson
