Last week’s election was memorable for Democrats here in Westmoreland County and around the nation.

Democrats performed well throughout Western Pennsylvania, Allegheny County, and that excited Morgan Fong, a sophomore who is vice president of the Pitt-Greensburg College Democrats.

“Personally, I believe the results were great,” Fong said. “I live in Allegheny County, where Sara Innamorato was elected county executive. I was glad to see that.”

Dr. Paul Adams, faculty sponsor of the Pitt-Greensburg College Democrats, believes that the results are meaningful for 2024 and beyond.

“Lots of thinking about that: statewide and in Pennsylvania, Democrats can win statewide races, and they have won every statewide race since 2022. There are lessons to be learned from this election,” Dr Adams said.

The political fixture of Pennsylvania will become more important, as the Commonwealth will be a swing state for the 2024 Presidential Election.
